The
benefits to the targeted populations we serve are found in Camp Taylors
unique natural settings and resulting opportunities to experience that
environment at an individuals own pace.
We
do not provide structured programs: instead we offer a wilderness environment
in which other agencies and organizations can provide their programs and
services. This allows them to focus on their programs ( their core business)
in a natural environment conducive to growth and learning ( our core business).
Many
individuals and groups in our area do not have the opportunity to explore
nature in a setting that is convenient and affordable. Camp Taylors
facilities include a Lodge with seating for >100 and cooking facilities,
9 cabins, a shower facility, and outdoor recreation areas which include
both organized and natural settings. Camp Taylor encourages usage by a
wide variety of targeted populations, including scouting, youth groups,
church organizations and special focus organizations that can benefit
from our facilities. Camp Taylor is located a short distance from Pocatello
and other Southeast Idaho communities , which allows organizations to
use our facilities without traveling long distances. Camp Taylor offers
preferential rates and reservations to those in our targeted population
: beyond this, we encourage use of our facilities by any one who can benefit
from what we offer.
Camp
Taylor provides natural settings that allow guests to learn about themselves
by experiencing an environment which they may not realize exists by any
other means. Our buildings provide handicap accessible facilities including
3 cabins equipped for year round use. We are located in the Caribou National
Forest, about 12 mile s from Pocatello. Access to Camp Taylor is via Bannock
County and U.S. Forest service roads. Winter access requires use of either
snowmobiles or cross country skis.
